It was a Sunday down here in Perth, Western Australia. A beautiful sunny Sunday it was and I spent this beautiful day ….. at Uni. Now as sad it may sound rest assured I absolutely got no studying done (who studies on a Sunday anyways? Its a Sunday FCOL).
I had just finished my pre-study ritual of reading up on blogs and things when my gmail notifier gave me the following notification: “Tom Ohle has invited you to Empire Avenue!”.
Mashable: ‘Quick Pitch: Buy and sell virtual shares in people and brands, with stock prices determined by influence and activity on blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc.”
That basically sums it all. Empire Avenue is a stock market like game that deals with (virtual) shares in people based on their influence on other social media outlets. A fascinating concept, don’t you think?
I can’t begin to describe the numerous hours of fun I’ve had so far. It all seemed confusing at first and I was way too excited to pay any attention to the start up video or the tips that were available. I jumped right in and started buying virtual shares of people and people were buying mine. Before I knew it my share price was skyhigh. At this time i was the only person in Perth that had a profile. Since that’s not the way things are supposed to be, I put my twitter to good use and now we have heaps of West Australian peeps signing up and our Perth City Community is currently ranking #4 on the Top Influential listing.
If you’re reading this and have not yet tried out Empire Avenue get in touch at @sach33 or email me to get an invite.
Head on over to http://empireavenue.com to check it out.
My ticker is SACHEE for those interested
Just thought I’d share my iPhone lockinfo theme :) Enjoy

Four Cydia Apps that will change the way you use your iPhone:
Get your Twitter feed, Notifications, Calender , Weather etc all on your lockscreen without having to open a single app.
Look for Lockinfo in Cydia. Its $4.99 after the trial which is well worth it!
Using the five icon dock app from Cydia but that’s still not enough? Infinidock lets you fit more apps into your dock and scroll horizontally through your docked apps. I couldn’t make a video but I do believe the pictures above gives you an idea of what it looks like.
Brings up toggles when you swipe the status bar. You can turn on/off your 3g, wifi, bluetooth, tether etc without having to go into the settings. Additional toggles can be downloaded from Cydia.
All the above can be found on Cydia, and all of them are great if you are on your iPhone alot doing iPhone-ey stuff. All the apps let your customize it to your liking. Hopefully the new iPhone OS 4.0 has functions similar to these natively. have fun!
So you have your contact list on your iPhone and would like to be able to have it backed up, preferably online, somewhere you can access it easily and possibly edit on the fly? You want to be able to sync these contacts to any phone and when you edit on either the device or the web these gets auto synced? who you gonna call? Google! (more…)
A couple of weeks ago I tried to multiboot Chromium with Ubuntu & Windows but failed because I forgot that I needed to update grub with the Chromium partitions before adding entries into the grub.cfg. Hexxeh has added a guide on his Wiki on how to get this done.
Link to this Guide can be found here on his wiki. You can follow Hexxeh on Twitter or check out his blog or Chromeos site to keep an eye on his latest Chromium builds.
After setting up the dual/multiboot you can head on over to OMG! UBUNTU! where they have a nice guide on HOWTO make your Grub look much nicer using Burg. Clicky Clicky.
There are heaps of Twitter analytics apps out there, some great, and some not so great. One that stands out from the rest is Twitalyzer. The site provides an awesome set of tools that one can use to visualize their tweeting habits. Twitalyzer, analyzes your mentions, followers, reweets, tweets etc and provides graphs that show your “clout”, “impact”, “influence” (more…)
The iPhone had many short comings when first released, remember: copy paste? 3G? MMS?. Whilst Steve has put out 3 models in total and Apple OS 3.x now in circulation there are lots of things that the A-OS nor any app from the App store fail to let you do.
So what to do? Jailbreak! Why? To bypass Apple’s app store and get access to the filesystem. Jailbreaking is a simple process and for those of you that have not Jailbroken their iPhone/iPod visit www.blackra1n.com.
I’d like to share with ya’ll (yes i said ya’ll) a few apps that I use to make my iPhone more productive and a bit more fun.
In no particular order whatsoever:
iFile – Highly commendable app that lets you browse the file system, add, edit, delete files and upload via webserver and many more. More Details Here
Winterboard - Best skinning app. Themes can be found at http://iphonethemegallery.com/ The theme I’m using at the moment (top of the post) is called Matte Nano
Voipover3g – Use apps such as skype via 3G.
vlc4iphone – Yep VLC for your iPhone.
SBSettings – My fav app of all time. A quick demo:
Mobile Terminal – Command Prompt/ Terminal.
iBlacklist – Block those annoying telemarketers, friends or even your mum.
Five Icon Dock – Lets you squeeze in one more icon in the dock.
Fake carrier – Change the carrier name.
Cycorder – For the 2G & 3G iPhone users, yes now you have a video recorder.
Backgrounder – Run applications in the background.
All these apps can be found in Cydia. A quick search should make these pop up. Any questions feel free to ask.
I was really bored the other day so I decided to go ahead and skin my Win7. I’ve put together the above theme using Rainmeter, WindowBlinds, Rocketdock & RK Launcher.
Waddya think?
Although I knew what I was going to expect from Google’s OS, I went ahead and downloaded a build to try it out. Hexxeh’s ChromiumOS Cherry build is what I came across and I recommend it to anyone wanting to try it out. Instructions are available on his website and its pretty straight forward. I had no problems with with wifi or any other devices on my laptop and desktop. Reading his blog it looks like he has alot of stuff planned so pop into Hexxeh’s Blog for updates. (more…)
No not that kind. I’m talking about Chrome Extensions. I’ve been playing around with the extensions on Chrome. Extensions have not been officially released yet but a quick Google search should tell you how. (more…)
